Shane Watson is a great player and a good leader: Cowan

Shane Watson is likely to captain Australia in the fourth Test in case regular skipper Michael Clarke is unfit. Opener Ed Cowan backed Watson to lead the side despite the all-rounder being in the centre of controversy.
"He (Watson) has probably decided to come back with a full focus and we will accept him because he is such a great player and a good leader," Cowan told reporters at the Feroze Shah Kotla after a practice session.

"He is a senior player around the group and it is important those kinds of players are on board because we need them for this team to be the best in the world."

While mentioning that Watson is a lot different in comparison to Clarke, Cowan hoped for the Australian captain, who is struggling with back pain, to be available for the fourth Test.
An out-of-form Watson, along with three other players, was sidelined from the third Test in Mohali for breach of discipline last week. Following that, Watson left for home to be with his wife who delivered baby boy Will last Thursday. While leaving for Sydney, an angry Watson had stated that he was contemplating retirement. However, he returned in time to be with the team for the fourth Test starting in Delhi on Friday.
