Mumbai : Pune Warriors India Thursday announced Sri Lankan all rounder Angelo Mathews as their captain for the sixth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

 Mathews to lead Pune Warriors in IPL-6 However Mathews won't be available during Pune Warriors' away match against Chennai Super Kings as the Tamil Nadu government has decided against allowing any of the Lankan players take part in IPL games in Chennai.
Mathews, who has been a part of the Warriors as a player for the past two years, said it would be a great opportunity for him to gain leadership experience working with a multi-national squad.

"It's a great honour to be offered the captaincy of the Pune Warriors and I am grateful to the team management and franchise owners for the faith shown in me.
"For me personally this is a great chance to gain leadership experience working with a multi-national squad and a very exciting opportunity given the enormous talent within our young squad," said Mathews.
