England and Surrey batsman Kevin Pietersen has been ruled out of the remaining Test against New Zealand commencing Friday March 22 due to an injury to his right knee.
Kevin Pietersen has been ruled out of the final Test against New Zealand at Eden Park and is set to miss eight weeks because of a knee injury.
The England and Wales Cricket Board has revealed Pietersen had suffered 'possible cartilage damage' to his right knee after complaining of the problem since the warm-up match to the Test series in Queenstown. He is also expected to be out of the Indian Premier League
It is a major concern for England who need Pietersen, 'reintegrated' into the squad this winter after the text controversy involving Andrew Strauss, to be fit for the summer with a home series with New Zealand followed by back-to-back Ashes series.
Sportsmail understands that Pietersen accepted that he would have to withdraw from the forthcoming IPL to avoid the accusation he was putting money before country.
