AB de Villiers is the Man of the Match and the Man of the Series.
Misbah-ul-Haq: 'Yea it is disappointing that we lost the series. It was a 250 pitch, we were on track but lost crucial partnerships. Shot selection was poor and South Africa were a better side today. If our batsmen spent more time at the centre things might have been different. We dropped AB early on, it happens in cricket and in the end he was outstanding. We have a lot of positives out of this series,
Mohammad Irfan
was brilliant, really impressed by him. We did well in the ODI and T20 series. Test matches didn't go our way. The team has learnt a lot and hopefully we can improve from the inputs that we have got. On the whole it has been a good series over here, I thank the South African cricket board for their hospitality.'So a captain's knock from
AB de Villiers,
Younis Khan
will be wondering how he dropped him at first slip, in the end he stayed all the way and steered his side to victory in this game and with it helped them clinch the series 3-2. The visitors were in the game until 23 overs, but that all important 87-run partnership between Behardien and the skipper set things up nicely for the Proteas. It has been a hard fought series between two quality sides, was just down to handling nerves and the hosts outsmarted Pakistan in that department. It has been a see-saw battle all throughout the series, South Africa registered a thumping win in the first ODI, Pakistan bounced back at Centurion. South Africa were victorious again at Johannesburg and the thriller at Durban went to Pakistan and here the hosts played well to take the series. Stay tuned for the presentation, coming up your way in a short while.
AB de Villiers is the Man of the Match and the Man of the Series. He says, 'I thank the Benoni crowd for their support. A really pleasing series win. Everyone contributed, a total team effort. Dale Steyn bowled really well, equally supported well by the rest of the bowlers. Ryan McLaren played well throughout the series, he has a lot of experience and he delivered the goods. Pakistan are a wonderful side, I hope I see them up the ladder in the world rankings soon. Wonderful talent all over the side, I am happy for them, they just have to come up good as a unit. Really happy with my show in the series as well, hopefully this will continue.'
