Australia bat on

Australia's captain Michael Clarke won the toss for the third time on this tour and chose to bat against India in Mohali. After the entire first day was washed out by rain, Clarke and his team had a steep task ahead to push for the result that would keep them in the series, having lost heavily in each of the first two Tests.the visitors' changes had been largely forced by the suspension of four players plus an ankle injury to Matthew Wade, leaving Brad Haddin to come in as the wicketkeeper, while Steve Smith slotted into the top six and Mitchell Starc and Nathan Lyon were recalled.India made two changes to the team from Hyderabad, dropping Virender Sehwag and Harbhajan Singh for the young debutant opener Shikhar Dhawan and the left-arm spinner Pragyan Ojha.he pitch appeared flat and even, and while it may provide the best pace and bounce of any surface used in this series it can also be expected to spin later.
