Afghanistan Cricket Schedule 2013

During the Taliban rule all sporting activities were forbidden in Afghanistan since they were considered to be un-Islamic. After routing of the Taliban in 2001, all sporting teams were revived including the Afghanistan cricket team. In 2001 the Afghanistan Cricket Federation became an affiliate of the International Cricket Council (ICC).The team has quite a good winning percentage so far given the enormous problems it faces due to the violence going on in the country. So far it has won 11 out of their 21 ODI matches & 6 out of their 7 first-class matches. The team participated in the qualifiers for the 2011 Cricket World Cup in 2009, but failed to secure a berth in the world cup fixtures. Although it failed to qualify for the World Cup, it secured ODI status till the year 2013. It made them the first affiliate nation to get ODI status. The team saw success in 2010 when it successfully qualified for the ICC WORLD TWENTY20. They also won the International Cup this year beating Scotland in the final. Mohammed Shahzad scored the most runs (802) in the tournament & Hameed Hassan took most wickets (43). Ex Pakistani cricketer Rashid Latif is currently the coach of the team & Mohammed Nabi is the captain.
