Royals choose to bat, Badree debuts

Rajasthan Royals captain Rahul Dravid won the toss and chose to bat on a Feroz Shah Kotla track expected to be full of runs, against Delhi Daredevils. Daredevils captain Mahela Jayawardene said he would have also chosen to bat first, but expected the pitch to remain suited for batting throughout the match.The hosts were still without Virender Sehwag, who is out through back spasms, and Unmukt Chand will likely open the innings alongside David Warner. Andre Russell, Johan Botha and Jayawardene himself were the other three overseas players for Daredevils.
Kusal Perera, the 22-year-old wicketkeeper batsman from Sri Lanka, was making his IPL debut for Royals, while Brad Hodge also strengthened the batting. The West Indies pair, legspinner Samuel Badree and medium-paceer Kevon Cooper, were the other foreign players.
The ground was bathed in sunshine at the toss, and conditions were expected to remain fine for the match.
