Michael Klinger

The 32-year-old Australian batsman has been signed as the club's overseas player and will be available in all formats of the game this summer. He also has previous experience in county cricket, having stood in for compatriot Phil Hughes as Worcestershire's overseas player for part of last season, scoring 293 runs in six first-class matches. It will be a great challenge to captain such a young side," Klinger told BBC Points West.Gloucestershire have been working on their ground redevelopment for the last six years, and the costs involved have meant their playing budget has been restricted. Hopefully, I can help some of the younger kids improve and take the next step in their games.Consequently, the club have had to rely on the younger members of their squad, but director of cricket John Bracewell believes the arrival of Klinger will have a positive effect.Klinger has had spells with state sides Victoria and South Australia, where he was skipper, and has also appeared for the Australia A team.
