IPL is more popular than Big Bash, says Christianl

DT Christian Profile Gallery All Australia Players Bangalore, Mar 30: Australia all-rounder Daniel Christian, the latest recruit for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), feels Indian Premier League (IPL) is more popular than Big Bash League. Christian, who joined RCB team on Friday, has played in Australia's Big Bash League and also IPL. When asked to compare the two, the all-rounder felt IPL was far ahead of BBL in terms of popularity. "The popularity of BBL in Australia is massive, but obviously not like the IPL. Since you've got a lot more people in India than we do, so a lot of people come and watch these games and more on television. They're both fantastic competitions and it's a pleasure and an honour to play in both," Christian said on Friday after training at M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Christian plays for South Australia's Redbacks in BBL. In IPL, he has played for the now defunct Deccan Chargers and will be a Bangalore boy for this edition. "I've admired watching the team (RCB) go about their work in the past two years being at Deccan Chargers, so I was very pleased after the auction when I found out that I was coming to RCB," Christian said. "I'll figure that (role in the team) out in the next couple of days after I catch up with Ray Jennings and also Virat (Kohli) when he gets here. I'll talk about how they want me to fit in. More than likely, it'll be batting somewhere in the middle and offering some overs like I normally do for most of my other teams, so I'll wait and see," he added. IPL 6 will start on April 3. RCB's first match is against Mumbai Indians on April 4 at M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
