In their bid to stop Chennai Super Kings' seven-match winning streak, the joint-best in the history of IPL, Mumbai Indians won the toss and chose to bat on a searing Mumbai afternoon. Super Kings were all but ensured of passage to the playoffs, but Mumbai needed the win to stay in touch with the other three contenders. Both the teams were forced to make changes. Super Kings lost Albie Morkel and Wriddhiman Saha to injuries, and had to bring in the Australian quick Ben Laughlin, whose only IPL game was against Mumbai in Chennai, and M Vijay. Mumbai missed out on the services of Dhawal Kulkarni, who was not well. They brought in the left-arm quick from Delhi, Pawan Suyal.Mumbai have won all four of their home games at the Wankhede this season, while Super Kings have won all four of their away games.
