Eden Park

The Black Caps lost nine wickets for 183 runs on the day, with centurion Peter Fulton adding just 12 to his overnight score, before Trent Boult did the damage late in the day for the Kiwis, striking twice.Former skipper Ross Taylor departed soon after, with spinner Monty Panesar representing the slow bowlers in the wicket column, catching Taylor off his own bowling for just four runs. The middle order tried to battle against the pace, and mosts got starts, with Brendon McCullum and Dean Brownlie both moving into the 30s, but none could make a last contribution as Finn performed with class. Paceman Steve Finn was the star bowler for England on the day, adding five wickets to the one he took the day before to finish the innings on six for 125. James Anderson took two, as pace dominated the day.Fulton's vigil finally came to an end after 346 deliveries, when Finn got his first scalp of the day. He got the edge and Matt Prior made no mistake with the catch behind the stumps, leaving the hosts on 297 for four. The Black Caps started the day on 250 for one, with Fulton on 124 and Kane Williamson on 83, looking for a big total to take the game away from the visitors. But Anderson had other ideas, and prevented Williamson from reaching his ton, caught behind for 91.
